Education the key to reduce compensation claims within the automotive mechanics industry
With injury and poisoning claims accounting for over 80 percent of all compensation claims made by the automotive mechanics industry1, Pro-Visual Publishing has responded with a call for education through its Automotive Mechanics Guide to Workplace Safety 2009/10.
In the last financial year the Australian Safety and Compensation Council reported 820
injury and poisoning claims made by the automotive repairs and services industry.1
The safety guide, which is being sent out free of charge nationally in June, addresses thisissue by focusing on how to minimise exposure to chemicals and hazardous substances and tips for reducing the risk of manual handling injuries.
The Motor Traders Association of NSW believes this year’s Guide is an invaluable
initiative for its members and the industry at large.
“The Automotive Mechanics Guide to Workplace Safety is a practical and useful resource that provides automotive mechanics with a daily safety reminder,” said James McCall, CEO, Motor Traders Association of NSW. “This year’s Guide contains handy tips on housekeeping and information on noise, chemical, and manual handling safety.”
By displaying the chart prominently, employees have a daily reminder and employers are reducing the costs of workplace accidents, illness and injury.
The Guide will be distributed to all MTA members and automotive repair businesses
across Australia. Additional copies are available and all Guides are produced and
distributed without cost thanks to sponsorship.
