Customer Complaint
ECM light coming on.

Problem Summary
ECM light coming on intermittently. Strange gear changes on road test.

Diagnostic Sequence
Scan vehicles engine and transmission system. Transmission had a lot of history. Clear codes and road test. ECM light came back on after short road test. Inspection of wiring harness and connectors to gearbox (1).
Main connection to gearbox badly corroded and one pin broken due to corrosion(2).

 
 
 
 
Fault Description

Due to high resistance in main transmission plug, across a number of pins, vehicle was experiencing transmission problems.

 
 
 
 
Fault Solution
Replacement of plug from both engine and transmission sides.

Recommended Time
Labour time was 2.5 hours, taking into account research time, location of parts and actual time spent fixing the problem
