The search is on for Australia’s Snap-on Apprentice of the Year
Street Machine magazine presents Snap-on Tools’ Automotive Apprentice of the Year Award. Automotive apprentices across Australia will have the opportunity to be acknowledged in 2009, with the launch of the inaugural Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year Award.
The challenge to find Australia’s Snap-on Apprentice of the Year will commence on 15 April 2009 and will recognise excellence in the automotive industry. Snap-on invites third or fourth year auto electricians, motor mechanics, spray painters and panel beaters to submit an entry for their chance to become 2009’s Apprentice of the Year within their chosen field.
Snap-on Tools is launching its inaugural Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year Award in 2009. The award will recognise excellence in the automotive industry and is open for application from 15 April 2009 to 5 June 2009.
“Apprentices are a fundamental part of the automotive industry’s future and will ensure that a high level of trade skills are retained in Australia. Investing in apprentices is an investment into the primary industry we serve”, said Steve Jones, National Sales Manager, Snap-on Tools. Snap-on will reward the winner from each field with over $8, 000.00 worth of Snap-on Tools and an invitation to receive their award at Summernats 2010.
“Fulfilling an apprenticeship requires determination and complete commitment for every apprentice. Enabling an apprentice to own professional quality tools from the beginning of their career encourages them to strive and excel at their trade”, said Steve.

Entrants must:
• Have been employed in Australia between 1 January 2008 and 30 June 2009
• Be 3rd or 4th year apprentice
• Be employed in and training for one of the following automotive trades:
Auto Electrician; Motor Mechanic; Spray Painter; Panel Beater
• Have passed all exams, have a commendation from his/her employer, a commendation from his/her TAFE teacher/trainer and examples of him/her going over and above the call of duty or giving something back to either the industry or the community
• Have an interview with a judge
• Complete an Application Form
Prize:
The winner will receive a 54” 11 Draw Classic Roll Cab – GLS BLK with tools valued at over $8,400, and an invitation to receive his/her award at Street Machine’s Summernats 2010.
Selection Panel:
The selection panel will comprise of representatives from Snap-on Tools, Street Machine magazine, and the industry. Three finalists from each discipline will be selected. An overall winner will be selected from these 12 finalists.
