MTA NSW Industry Update

The NSW Motor Traders Association has been busy in the background working on a host of projects to assist the collision repair industry.

The MVIRI Code of Conduct Review and working to stop RWO’s, Repairable Write Offs, Realistic Times and Rates, have been some of the activities keeping the organisation very busy.

MTA has adopted the Scales of Justice symbol to identify the fair & transparent nature that the MVIRI Code of Conduct inspires. Look for this symbol to find out more.

High on the list of work was lobbying the Government to stop repairable write offs. This has entailed the MTA making representations to the NSW Government's Stay Safe Committee regarding the safety issues with repairable write offs (RWOs) as well as meeting with the Minister for Transport & Roads, The Hon. David Campbell and the NSW Police.

Physical evidence was presented on the serious & dangerous safety related issues found through the MTA’s investigation on RWO’s.
Of great importance to the Industries long term future is the Review being conducted on the progress of the Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct.
Submissions are being presented by all stake holders on the effectiveness of the Code.

MTA is continuing its development of E-MTA, the MTA's realistic times guide which is available at www.e-mta.com.au.

We are continuing to liaise with insurance companies regarding the progress of Realistic Times and Rates (RTRM) including participating in the national times committee for the progress of NTAR and had been liaising with prestige repairers for the introduction of a luxury realistic times guide.

As part of Realistic Times & Rates methodology there has also been meetings with paint manufacturers to discuss paint technologies and industry developments future price increases that will eventually affect the Industry.

MTA NSW continues to liaise with the other state Associations to ensure a national approach to these matters.
