MTA members Grant and Marie Johnston from Chelmsford Farm Machinery are still celebrating the excitement of having their son James Johnston in Australian Idol.
Chelmsford farm Machinery have been members of the Motor Traders’ Association since 1997 and run a new and used farm machinery business in Taree.
Both parents are extremely excited for their son and have enjoyed the progress he has made during his idol journey.
WINGHAM'S first Australian Idol contender, James Johnston still impresses the judges with his stunning good looks and musical talent.
James, who lives at Cedar Party, has been entertaining for as long as anyone can remember. He could be seen busking on the streets of Taree and Tamworth as a primary school student and in those days his style was country. But on the stage at Star Struck, a major annual production for Hunter public schools, James was encouraged to step out of his comfort zone and try new music genre.
Today he has settled into a more laid-back acoustic style in the vein of Jack Johnson and John Mayer.
James is also a talented songwriter and he has showcased his originals at Star Struck and during the past two Wingham Akoostik Music Festivals.
He graduated from Wingham High School last year and now splits his time between Newcastle and gigging on the Mid North Coast.
