| STAYSAFE & Repairable Write - Off’s (RWO’s)
MTA NSW will be presenting to the Stay Safe Committee information gathered from the Industry and other reputable sources on the current un-safe and consequently dangerous consequences of failing to repair vehicles back to pre-accident condition without using the recommended manufacturer’s specifications as required in the Motor Vehicle Insurance & Repair Industry Code of Conduct
This is part of MTA NSW’s strategy to ensure all necessary information has been made available to the NSW Government, its Ministers, & it’s Members of Parliament in determining the future of the Management of Repairable Write Off’s.
Public Safety – The Industries Responsibility
MTA NSW has received a worrying trend in where unsafe repairs have been carried out directly linked with 2 quotes / tendering based Insurer assessing systems. Recent meetings with members of the NSW Government, its agencies and authorities, have also contributed to MTA’s presentation to the Stay Safe Committee.
This presentation will be presented to Repairer groups across Australia to ensure that key stakeholders take full responsibility to repair vehicles back to Pre -Accident condition using Manufacturing specifications.
MVIRI Code of Conduct – November Review
As 2009 reaches its conclusion, there is still much work needed to be done in strengthening the MVIRI Code of Conduct. Clarification of key areas is also important as increasingly Motor Body Repairers exercise their rights for & on behalf of their customers, their employee’s, & their own businesses future.
The Code Administration Committee is undertaking a review following the Office of Fair Trading review earlier in the year. This will be an opportunity for the Motor Trades Associations around Australia to highlight areas that require review for the betterment of the Motor Body Repair Industry.
