MTAA Super is a proud sponsor of Australia’s racing series, the V8 Supercars.
As the superannuation fund for the motor trades industry, it’s probably not surprising that MTAA Super follows the series just as closely as many of our members do.
Just as important is keeping the peace… MTAA Super also sponsors both the Holden Racing Team (HRT) and Ford Performance Racing (FPR) team.
With our support of the series comes an opportunity for our members to get up close and personal with their favourite racing team and drivers.
The 2010 Workshop Apprentice Showdown is now open
Engaging with young people in the motor trades and encouraging them to plan for a financially secure future is one of the main reasons MTAA Super is involved with the V8 Supercars. Thanks to our sponsorship, we are able to offer senior apprentices the incredible opportunity to work alongside their favourite racing team.
As part of the 2010 Workshop Apprentice Showdown, two lucky winners will spend a week in Melbourne that will hold life-long memories for them. Both HRT and FPR, in conjunction with MTAA Super, are offering an apprentice the chance to tour their workshop facilities and experience the thrill of being involved with either team at the L&H 500 Phillip Island race weekend.
Apprentices are simply required to tell us, in 25 words or less, why they would like to win this experience. The most compelling and deserving answers will be awarded the prize.
Entries are now open and will be accepted up until 6 August 2010. If you know a motor trades apprentice (Certificate III or above), please encourage them to enter this exciting competition. Further details can be found at the MTAA Super website: mtaasuper.com.au
Last year, Nick lived out his Race Team Dream

2010 is the second year MTAA Super has offered senior apprentices the chance to win this once-in-a-lifetime race team experience.
Nick Adams from Echuca, in regional Victoria, was the inaugural winner. His submission was chosen from entries that came in from all over Australia.

“I’ve never won anything before,” says Nick, who spent the best part of a week with the Holden Racing Team in September 2009. Nick was 18 and a third-year apprentice when he won the prize, and impressed all at HRT with his commitment and enthusiasm.
“It was great to have Nick join the Holden Racing Team for the duration of the 2009 L&H 500 endurance event at Phillip Island,” reflects Rhett Beere, marketing manager at Walkinshaw Racing.
“He has a great work ethic and displayed enthusiasm and common sense at all times – these are certainly qualities that we look for in young team members.”
Nick has some good advice for anyone dreaming about winning the competition. “If you are an apprentice and thinking about entering, I’d say give it a go. You never know what could happen!”
In 2010, there will be two chances to win, with Ford Performance Racing also offering a place with its team for the L&H 500 at Phillip Island.
Chances to win free V8 Supercars passes
With the 2010 V8 Supercars season comes an exciting set of prizes, including exclusive race-day passes.
Don’t miss your chance to get trackside and experience the V8 Supercars first hand. Multi-day race passes will be won for the following three high-profile race meetings: L&H 500 Phillip Island in September, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in October and Sydney Telstra 500 in December.
All you have to do is tell us in 25 words or less who your favourite V8 Supercars driver is, and why. The most creative answers will win. Entries can be submitted at mtaasuper.com.au
