July 2010

The Challengers Ahead – Is a Royal Commission the Answer!

You may not want to hear this….Our Industry is again at the cross roads between the Sustainable & the Unsustainable.

WHY….?

After so much turmoil that this Industry has gone through, Mass demonstrations, Rally’s, Big Business beating Small Businesses to the ground.., Industry Consultative Groups, Government liaison groups, Media attention, Public Safety issues brought about by UNSAFE repairs….!, Public Outcries !

Here We Go Again….!

After so much advancement in the manufacturing of the modern vehicle, after so much progress in vehicle safety technology and the awareness brought about by the evolution of the modern Motor Vehicle Body Repair Industry as a whole, we are again at the brink of… DO…. OR …..DIE Industry!

The Have’s & the Have Not’s!

An Industry that most would not want their own children to have a career in !...No… then just look at how many apprentices there are now compared with just 5 years or even 10 years ago!
I don’t see Insurance Industries pushing grants to the Mining industry to get apprentices through their own Network Schemes….Do you?

Are Your Alarm bells ringing yet…!

It is becoming more apparent to most in the Motor Body Vehicle Repair industry that the Skills Shortages are a direct result of UNFAIR & UNCONSCIONABLE COMPETITIVE practices over the last 10 years brought about by the 2 quote estimating system and other such factors as the World Wide Financial Crisis and Insurers poor investment options, that they have now embarked upon another program of CLAWING BACK costs from..?....You guessed it…..The Motor Body Repair Industry.

These same forces are driving Our Industry bankrupt! ….WHY?

Marketing….or as some refer to it as BRAIN WASHING….subtle but effect and can be just as deadly!

MTA NSW continues to receive overwhelming evidence of potentially dangerous and life threatening information on Sub standard poor repairs when Insurers use the “2 quote” estimating process.

Information…factual information is the key that will unlock this unconscionable grip on the Motor Body Repair Industry

GENERAL PUBLIC and INDUSTRY NOTICE:
MTA NSW is looking into calling on the NSW Government to carry out a ROYAL COMMISSION type enquiry into the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry to “once and for all” address the issues that affect the safety, structural integrity, presentation and utility of motor vehicle repairs on behalf of the General Public.
