Caution Required When Terminating Employees
Most MTA members are sufficiently well tuned to know that termination of employees presents a danger to the business and therefore that warrants seeking advice. There are certain protections for employers, the most prominent being the qualification period that must be served by an employee prior to the employee having a right to lodge an unfair dismissal claim.

Competency based progression of apprentices
There is a proposal in NSW to move away from a time based model to a competency based progression model. This would mean that an apprentice could progress on competencies achieved as agreed to, in the individual training plan, rather than using the current time served approach.

has provided evidence and assistance to Transport NSW (formally known as Ministry of Transport - MoT) which has culminated in a successful prosecution and conviction for touting, at Sydney Airport Domestic Terminal, by a Hire Car operator.
